01About this product
A contoured sleep mask rather than a flat one. Two moulded cups hold the fabric clear of the eye, which means nothing presses on the lid and nothing catches a lash when you move in the night. Anyone who has worn a flat mask and woken up with it pushed onto their forehead will recognise the problem this is built to solve.
The outer shell and the lining are both 22-momme mulberry silk, chosen for the fibre rather than for luxury: silk moves against skin with far less friction than cotton and does not absorb whatever you put on your face at night. The nose wing is the part that determines whether a mask actually blocks light, and this one is shaped rather than flat. Strap adjusts with a flat slider that will not press into the back of your head.

Set the strap low on the back of the head
Below the crown, not across it. A strap sitting high slides up during the night and takes the mask with it, which is the usual reason a mask ends up on a forehead by morning.
Seat the nose wing before you lie down
Press the shaped wing gently against the bridge of your nose until the light gap closes. Almost all light leak in a sleep mask comes in at the bridge.
Blink to check the clearance
You should be able to open and close your eyes freely inside the cups. If lashes touch the fabric, the mask is sitting too low and the strap needs shortening.
Hand wash cool, air dry
Mild detergent, cool water, no wringing, and dry away from direct heat. Silk survives hand washing indefinitely and does not survive a tumble dryer.
