01About this product
Ready-made reading glasses with the filter coating applied to a magnifying lens, in five strengths from +1.00 to +2.50 in 0.50 steps. Both lenses carry the same power, which is what distinguishes ready-made readers from prescription eyewear: they do not correct astigmatism, they do not account for a difference between your two eyes, and they are not fitted to your pupillary distance.
That makes them suitable for close work at a desk if you already know roughly what strength you read at, and unsuitable as a substitute for an eye examination. The frame is a slim rectangle at 136 mm with 6 mm temples, deliberately light at 21 g because readers get pushed up onto the head and pulled down again dozens of times a day. Microfibre pouch included.

Pick the lowest strength that works
Hold ordinary print at the distance you would naturally read it and try the weakest lens that makes it comfortable. Over-magnifying pulls your reading distance unnaturally close and is the usual reason a pair of readers feels wrong.
Use them for close work only
Anything past arm length will be blurred through a magnifying lens, which is normal. Take them off to look across a room and do not walk around in them.
See a professional if the strength keeps climbing
Needing steadily more magnification, or needing different strengths for each eye, is exactly what ready-made readers cannot handle. That is a reason to book an eye examination rather than to buy a stronger pair.
Clean with the cloth
Microfibre dry or barely damp. Readers live in pockets and bags, so the pouch matters more with this pair than with any other frame here.
Fitting these frames
There is one size. Work from the three numbers in the specification table above — 52 mm lens width, 18 mm bridge, 145 mm temples — and compare them with a pair of glasses you already wear comfortably; the same three numbers are usually printed inside one of that pair’s temple arms. If you are within roughly 2 mm on the lens and bridge figures, this frame will sit the same way. Both temples are wire-cored, so an optician can adjust them to your head and the adjustment will hold.

- Are these prescription reading glasses?
- No. They are ready-made magnification with the same power in both lenses. They do not correct astigmatism and they are not fitted to your pupillary distance.
- What strength should I order?
- The weakest that makes ordinary print comfortable at your natural reading distance. If you are unsure between two, take the lower one.
- Can I wear these for driving or walking?
- No. Distance vision is blurred through a magnifying lens. These are for close work at a desk.
- Do they replace an eye test?
